Review of Mizuno Wave Elixir 4 Stability Running Shoe Womens

Mizuno Wave Elixir 4 Stability Running Shoe WomensThis Mizuno is a great running shoe. The only inhibiting factor as with most running shoes is the price. If you can't afford this shoe but like the feel of it, look for Ryka brand running shoes for women. Same thing, half the price.

Review of Mizuno Wave Rider 11 Cushion Running Shoe Mens

Mizuno Wave Rider 11 Cushion Running Shoe MensThis is the first pair of mizunos I've purchased.I am using them as my Friday casual shoe at work and weekend duty for now.In this capacity, I have found the breathability of these shoes amazing. My feet are normally very hot.I did use them on one running expedition. The sole is more flexible than my new balance I am used to and the shoe is overall lighter.I had trouble keeping my stride efficient, but no problems with discomfort.I think it is more of a case of getting used to the shoes for me than an issue with the shoes.I think when these are my normal running shoes, then I will love them even more.

Review of Mizuno Wave Nirvana 5 Stability Running Shoe Womens

Mizuno Wave Nirvana 5 Stability Running Shoe WomensI have worn Mizuno Wave Nirvana shoes for several years.I need a shoe that will accommodate my custom orthotics and give me support for my high, weak arches and recurring plantar fasciitis. Wave Nirvanas USED to fit the bill perfectly - I thought I'd never quit wearing them, but sadly, the last pair I bought were nowhere near the quality of my previous pairs. My latest pair is not as well constructed as my older ones - the materials seem flimsier and the arch support and fit are nowhere near as good. In fact, my plantar fasciitis has flared up since I started wearing them. I will buy the older models as long as I can find them on the internet, and when those are gone, I'll have to find another brand. What a shame - I would have been a loyal customer for life if Mizuno had kept up their high standards for these shoes, but they have not.

Review of Womens Mizuno Wave Ascend 3 Trail Running Shoe

Womens Mizuno Wave Ascend 3 Trail Running ShoeI bought these to back up a pair of well-cushioned (but well-worn) Asics Gel Kinetics. Running in these Mizunos is like running in track spikes - that nifty wave design gives me virtually no heel cushioning. On the plus side, the toe box is not as unnecessarily "tall" as those on the Asics. The Asics are like running on pillows by comparison. All is not lost, though. I found that these Mizunos have a far better grip on surfaces (e.g., keeping my feet from sliding when doing planks or stability exercises), so they're now my gym trainers. Maybe I'm not heavy enough to compress the heels. I'm 130 lbs, and the shoes might be designed for a heavier runner. Too bad, I was hoping to have another pair of running shoes. I was swayed by a stellar review from a friend, but she may never have tried running in Asics!

Review of Mizuno Wave Rider 12 Cushion Running Shoe Womens

Mizuno Wave Rider 12 Cushion Running Shoe WomensI will admit that I am a relatively new runner.I only began running in May 2008.I began running with the Couch to 5K program.Due to the nature of that wonderful intro to running program I started my running life as a low mileage runner. So, for much of the program I wore a pair of shoes that I had already.

Naturally, as my interest in running increased I increased my reading and research and learned about gait analysis, etc.So, off I went to the local running store to find out what kind of gait I had.

I learned that I am a size 8.5, with a medium arch, and a very neutral gait. The saleswoman brought out all 14 brands of shoes they had for neutral gaits and I started a 45 minute process of trying a pair on, running for a minute on a treadmill, then trying on a different brand on one foot, run for a minute, decide which of the two I liked best, take off the loser, put on a new one, repeat.

At the end of this I ended up with the Mizuno Wave Rider 11.

And it's been a love affair ever since.

Since that day I've become a medium mileage runner.I trained for a half-marathon, which I completed, and now I run about 30 miles a week (2 5-milers and 2 10-milers a week).

These shoes have been fantastic.I have run injury and pain free the entire time.

Until about 3 weeks ago.

I started having a pain in my upper left calf (felt like it was behind my knee) and my middle toe on the same leg began feeling increasingly bruised.Running became increasingly unfun and uncomfortable, with a great deal of discomfort later.

I realized that I had ~350 miles on my shoes.

So, a few days ago I went to the running store and bought the Mizuno Wave Rider 12.

IMMEDIATELY, my pain and discomfort disappeared. On my very first run in my new shoes.

I can't say if the 12's are better than the 11's because it's been so long since my 11's were new. But, I can say that wearing the 12's has been a joy.My calf/back of knee and toe feel completely fine.My last 6 mile run felt great, with my knees not feeling fatigued at all.I felt very energized. This is a very responsive shoe.

So, I would definitely recommend this shoe to any neutral gait runner with similar mileage as mine. And I think the shoe fails fast so you'll know when it;s time to replace it.

Other info about me....I am a 34 year old female.I would be considered a heavy runner as I am 5'4" and weigh ~140lbs (I am distressingly muscular for a women...this is just my genetic luck).I run a 7:45 pace for 5-6K and 8:00 for halfs.Use this info (ie, pace and weight) to help you understand the timeline in which the shoe failed for me.
